Ambiente is Europe’s largest international consumer goods trade fair. Held in Frankfurt, Germany every year, Ambiente hosted 4,460 exhibitors from 92 countries at the last fair. It is the most important trade fair outside of Asia for everything from interior design, furnishings and decor to gifts and personal accessories.
Bawa Hope has been a participant of Ambiente since our debut in 2015, exhibiting ethical products made by Kenyans in informal settlements and getting fair prices for them. The artisans have previously been forced to sell their products within the informal settlements they live in for throw away prices. The little they earned was barely enough for them to make ends meet, let alone turn a profit
In 2015, after a rigorous approval and orientation process, Bawa Hope, with our artisans’ products, made our debut at Ambiente Messe Frankfurt. The reception of the products at the fair was exciting and it was a start to great business partnerships. Partnerships which have meant more and more orders for our artisans since that first fair. The families are flourishing from the much better incomes they’re making. Bawa Hope operates through WTO’s Fair-Trade policy, which means the lion’s share of earnings go to the artisans. Their dignity is restored. Customers appreciated the quality of products they’re buying.
A new and exciting chapter has begun for Bawa Hope and our artisans. We have no intention of slowing down and neither do they. Therefore, we urge you to keep supporting them by buying their world class hand made products.
